The Desert Nomads Golf Club is proud to announce the details of the Slyder Cup, the club's main annual event. The Slyder Cup Invitational, a team event in the Ryder Cup format, will feature Ray Byars from San Antonio against Walt Steinbeck from Corona, California. The venue for Slyder Cup XIII is northern Arizona. These Captains, both tenacisous competitors, are looking to continue the fierce competition and legacy of the Slyder Cup.
The schedule of events is as follows (all times PST or AZ):
Due to adding a second private course in increased restaurant costs, we will need a slight increase in the event fee from $450 to $500. A $300 deposit is due by June 28th. The balance is due July 24th. The inclusive cost takes care of:
- Dinner and cocktails at the Kickoff Dinner,
- All four rounds of golf including green fees, cart fees, taxes and range balls,
- First round of "Splash for Cash" and Supershot entry
- Dinner and cocktails at the Champions' Dinner, and
- Competition, camaraderie and lifetime memories in beautiful weather (Intellicast Forecast).
Accomodations at the Grand Canyon Railway and Hotel have been reserved at $139/night. Roommates are to handle split cost amongst themselves.
As in past years becoming more popular with each year, an optional practice day is available. Details yet to come.
This event is by invitation only with responsible participants having first right on next year's event. However, if you have not yet been invited but are interested in participating, please contact the Desert Nomads Tournament Committee at tc@desertnomads.org. We are always looking for new players and alternates in case of cancellations.
